The Vanford is Shimano’s most sensitive spinning reel. The inertia required to start the Vanford rotor moving is almost imperceptible. It’s hard to describe the sensation, but pick one up and you will immediately know what we mean. It’s a win-win and when it comes to lightweight lure fishing set-ups, there is very little that can compete with the Vanford. The sensitivity of the Vanford is a result of the MGL Rotor, which along with the body is engineered from Shimano’s exclusive Ci4+ composite material. This is also why the reel feels so light in the hand. Internally, HAGANE Gear, MicroModule II, X-SHIP and Silent Drive work seamlessly together to deliver smoothness and a deceptive amount of power. The addition of a Long Stroke Spool increases casting performance, especially when using the smaller sizes with ultra-light lures. If you prefer to fish larger softbaits and crankbaits, checkout the larger Vanford sizes, which come with different gear options including High Gear (HG) and Extra High Gear (XG). With 14 different options, the mid-priced Vanford is a legend in the making.
